The first EU-level expert seminar of the LMIE-INET will take place on 10 December 2009. The event will gather participants from 27 EU Member States, as well as Croatia, Norway and Turkey, including policy-makers, representatives of the EU institutions, international organizations, private business, trade unions, academia and civil society.

The event will serve a two-fold purpose:

The study investigates how the global economic downturn has impacted and is likely to impact on migrants and migration in the European Union, and will examine some of the issues that this raises for migration, employment and social policies.
  2. To facilitate a debate with a broad range of stakeholders on policy measures, in particular in the field of employment and labour market relevant at the time of economic crisis and in the context of discussion on the post-2010 Lisbon Agenda.
